Daily make up routine makes me feel good about myself

Back in the day I never used to be bothered about wearing make up. If I wore it great, but if I didn’t, I wasn’t bothered, I’d just be lazy and shove on my glasses in the hope that the frames would take the glare of ugly away from my face. But when I moved to Ramsgate, being pregnant and knowing very few people, I needed a new way to make myself feel good about myself. Instead of just hiding away in our room which was a common practice in the first few weeks of living down here, I needed a new way to feel confident and happy. My mum suggested setting up a routine of putting on make up and surprisingly enough it’s made me feel better. Usually without make up I have big bags under my eyes from the sod all sleep I get when Missy gets into her acrobatic routine which, generally is 98% of the day. My face looks tired and puffy and my skin is dry.

Since updating my hair colour, met some great peeps through work and enjoying the last few months of my pregnancy, my skin has looked better than it has done in a while. Being pregnant can give your skin and hair an amazing glow anyway, so whilst that’s here, take advantage of it as best you can. My skin has become dryer than usual but that may be down to the fact I’m close to the sea and not surrounded by city fumes like I was in Greater London 5 months back. Each morning or before I go out, I take the time to get my face ready. Even if I feel like crap, having a bit of colour on my face makes me feel more confident and better about myself.

Wearing makeup is common place in today’s society. Us women wear it for many different occasions from a day at work to going out with friends. The little bit of paint that you apply to your face, is a type of statement to some but mainly used so women feel confident in the way they look. There are so many different products available on the market these days that are constantly shoved down our throats of what’s right and what’s not for our skin. My skincare and makeup routine is simple, thankfully I don’t wear tonnes of make up to warrant a huge post, so lucky for you, you don’t have to read too much crap about my beauty routine, but knowing I apply some good products to my skin, help my skin look good on a daily basis.

My daily routine

  • By perking up my eyes, reducing the puffiness, dark circles from the no sleep I’m currently getting, I look a little better than the Nightmare of Elm Street I looked before I slapped it on.
  • My foundation gives my skin the glow that makes it look healthier than it did before I applied the make up. It evens out my skin tone, making just a small change to my skin.
  • Applying a bit of blusher helps lift my face and funnily enough tricks everyone into thinking I’ve actually slept when I haven’t.
  • A little bronzer, mascara and my trusty eyebrow pencil all help make my face look reasonable before I head out for the day.

Thankfully however exhausted or bloated I feel, pregnancy gives us girls a natural glow, so if makeup isn’t your thing, no doubt a simple face wash can help you feel just as good. It’s all down to the individual!
